And in case you haven’t heard, we have a bit of a “rivalry” going on
with a competition called “ToJam” in Toronto. We’re having some fun

  • [gamecompo] PyWeek #10 has started: the theme is “Wibbly-wobbly”!

Date: 2010.03.27 | Category: Syndicated Mailing List Posts | Response: 0

The PyWeek challenge (http://pyweek.org/) has started! It:

    1. Invites entrants to write a game in one week from scratch either as
an individual or in a team,
    2. Is intended to be challenging and fun,
    3. Will hopefully increase the public body of game tools, code and expertise,
    4. Will let a lot of people actually finish a game, and
    5. May inspire new projects (with ready made teams!)

    See you there,

    Richard

  • [gamecompo] Re: Intel’s March Developer Challenge

Date: 2010.03.03 | Category: Syndicated Mailing List Posts | Response: 0

Okay, one little clarification I just heard back from Intel on
    regarding their contest.

The 100 royalty matching prizes are only available to Windows apps, as
the AppUp Center is only available for Windows right now. The rest of
the prizes (the 250x $500 cash prizes and further prizes to be
announced March 9th) are available for both Windows AND Linux entries.

I had a couple people ask me directly about aspects of the Intel store
and the contest, so I just wanted to be sure anyone that didn’t also
    got the memo.

Now back to your regularly scheduled mailing list silence.

  • [gamecompo] Intel’s March Developer Challenge

Date: 2010.03.02 | Category: Syndicated Mailing List Posts | Response: 0

    Hey everybody,

For those of you Windows and Linux developers that work in C/C++,
there’s a little contest run by Intel going on this month you may be
interested in. I wrote up a post on the Ludum Dare blog about it,
with some tips about the platform.

    http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2010/03/02/intels-march-developer-challenge/

I figured I’d pass this on to you guys, ’cause well, I won a Car and a
Trip to GDC in the last one… heh. ;) . The next round of big fancy
prizes haven’t been announced yet, but there’s 250x $500 cash prizes
(Visa gift vouchers) and 100x royalty matching prizes available
already (or $2 per free download capped at $5k). It’s pretty insane
    if you think about it.

    Due March 31st.

So if you’ve got a sweet LD game you could polish up in a couple
weekends (or two sweet LD games), here’s a place for it. :)

Feel free to discuss it in the comments in that post above, but shhh!
That I won the trip too isn’t public knowledge yet. ;)
